Shining impossibility!
Warm to the touch
And soft, of flesh on flesh.
Daydreams of paradise.
Perfection illusory,
Just as the safety and the permanence
Of being tucked into bed
Lasts only through the nighttime.

It was impossibility at first sight,
When our two islands collided
And the fairies flew and buzzed.
They made whirlwinds in my head
And poured weak acid on my heart.
And in my sickness I dreamed,
Placed my pale hands on my stinging heart
And dreamed of what could be.

It seemed that even a snowstorm
Couldn't blast these fairies away
And then a summer breeze,
From a clear blue sky,
Did that very task.

Now I know:
This maiden barely metamorphosed
Will meet her white knight someday,
In a hundred years, or a thousand,
When she's finally come of age.
And all the while, they will come,
Frogs and toads with warts,
And they will sway her heart again,
Or maybe they will not.
But it will pass, come what may,
And in the end, she'll love one day.
